Upgrade creates bullet problems with featured content

Postby KEVINLIKES » 15 May 2012, 08:46

Hi Sayontan and team
Love Suffusion but when I upgraded to 4.2.0, it added a bunch of bullets below my featured content. I've only loaded two stories there, but it now displays 24, with the new 22 linking to www.kevinlikes.com/#, an extension of my home URL. Any ideas on what went wrong or how to fix this? Thanks again for a great theme.

I'm experiencing something similar over at http://watsoncatholic.ca. The index bullets in the featured content widget are each repeated once.

The same thing is happening if I'm using numbers instead of bullets. For example, if I have 4 featured posts, the index appears as "1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4". The cycling only happens among the first set of 1-4.

Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

Further note (which may make it easier for troubleshooting): I've noticed the same thing happens on the official Aquoid Suffusion homepage slider. http://aquoid.com/news/themes/suffusion/

I have also tried using the latest jquery.cycle (version 2.9999.5 from http://jquery.malsup.com/cycle/) and it didn't seem to change anything.

Try this in your custom styles

Code: Select all
.pager-bullets #sliderPager a, .pager-bullets .sliderPager a {display:none;background:none;}

Thanks for the idea. That gets rid of the bullets entirely, though it didn't solve the original issue. Still, it's an ok workaround for the time being. :)

Just curious if any more ideas have come to mind about this issue. I'm still kinda stumped (admittedly it doesn't take much for that to happen ;-)).

I've attached an image of what it looks like (to me) on the official Suffusion site. (http://aquoid.com/news/themes/suffusion/)

Note the 8 bullets in the featured content widget; the last (rightmost) 4 appear to be a repeat of the first (leftmost) 4 bullets. Only the first 4 bullets are cycled. If you click on any of the last 4 bullets, the corresponding bullet in the first 4 bullets is activated. (e.g. If I click on bullet #7, then the 3rd bullet is activated.)

The screen shot is taken with Safari 5.1.7 on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4. The same behaviour is also seen in Chrome and Firefox.

Thanks so much for your time. :-)

First of all, I hope your move to Houston goes smoothly! It sounds like you've had a very busy past few weeks... :-)

I just wanted to mention that I've tried the latest Safari for OS X (version 6), and I see the same behaviour. This is true both for the Aquoid Suffusion page (screen capture above) and my http://watsoncatholic.ca page.

Any ideas?

Having the same issue here. All latest updates of WP and Suff. Seems to happen viewing with any browser. Bullets are "doubling" themselves as described by poster above. I have deleted my featured content and rebuilt from scratch but same thing is happening. Looking for a solution but so far the only "workaround" is to not show bullets at all.

I honestly have no idea why this happens - it is erratic to say the least. In 9 cases out of 10 things go by without a hitch, but in the 10th instance you see the bullets doubled. It is one of those issues that I keep at the back of my mind, alert if I ever hit upon a fix by accident or otherwise.

I have found the piece of code causing this issue - why it causes the issue is beyond me, but I do know now how to fix it. It should be gone in the next version.
