IE8 browser not showing in fixed width

Postby amarogue » 23 Jun 2012, 13:22

I have the theme set to 1000 fixed width and site shows that way in Firefox, but not in Explorer. Today I installed both upgrades - to wordpress 3.4 and suffusion 4.2.3. Before only Chrome showed fluid width and the other two showed fixed. With same IE browser, a few days ago aquoid.com was viewed in fixed but now is fluid. I looked at source code of aquoid to see if I was going crazy:

Code: Select all
<body class="home blog custom-background light-theme-royal-blue suffusion-custom preset-1000px">

On my website: Appearance / Default Sidebar Layout / Fixed Width 1000 px

I am talking to ebook authors and my views on a fixed width website theme (vs fluid option) is caught in the crossfire. Seems like a contradiction if visitor is viewing fluid width in Explorer. Nothing can be done about Chrome. Thank you for any help, not sure which upgrade did this. I searched in forum and found nothing recent that relates to this post. I wouldn't say its a bug but posted here instead of support.

This is a great theme for authors to use!! If I have any incorrect info on page, please advise what to correct.

I took a look - the page you have linked is fixed width on all browsers.

hmmm .... feeling like a real fool

After your reply, I looked in IE setting and saw it at 125%. Last night I was having trouble reading a web page (sign of old age) and magnified the view, It saved that setting, even when I shut down a few times today to clear cache. I am least familiar with Chrome features but found a zoom setting at 120% clicking the tool icon.

Thank you ... Suffusion is a feature rich theme!
