Unable to create a new page

Postby zzp-school » 11 Jul 2012, 10:03

Any option I use to create a new page comes up with this result: "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 491520 bytes) in /public/sites/www.zzp-school.nl/wp-admin/edit-form-advanced.php on line 298".

I haven't done anything other than keeping up with my updates. I'm not technical at all, so I can't have messed up any code.
Is this something that's to be fixed in 'the theme/WP-department', or something I'd have to take up with my provider?
I use WP version 3.4.1-nl_NL and Suffusion version 4.2.4.

Besides this latest problem, since 2 updates ago, the HTML-editor on some pages doesn't work (the tab isn't clickable), and in the WYSIWYG-editor no letters are to be seen (only little red scribblings, if that). If I select an area by double-clicking, I can see what's 'underneath'. Editing is sort of still possible in that way, but very time consuming and no fun at all.

I hope someone can help me, because I finally have the look and feel for my site that I like, so I don't want to have to switch themes. :-(

You can switch the theme, because your problem isn't theme related. The editor is a core part of WordPress and isn't touched by the theme. As the error said, the memory allocated by your host for running php scripts is exhausted. So, you will need to increase the memory, either by talking with your host, either by changing some files on the server - see here how: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/memo ... rade-to-28

@drake Sorry for not responding to your answer more quickly, but I just had enough of anything and everything to do with WP for a while.

I followed some directions found through the link you provided (thanks!), but that gave no results - so I chucked in the towel.
The 'flaw' miraculously disappeared with the next update (of just about anything), so I could post to my website again. Yay! :D

But then last week, after installing a new plug in, The Flaw reappeared again. I took the previous undertaken steps again, now increasing the memory limit to a whopping 128 MB ... Nothing changed. Just now I updated the theme, hoping things would resolve themselves like they did before, but - no, they didn't.

So I'm chucking in the towel again. I'm off for a vacation in France and when I return, fully rested an no longer frustrated  , I'm going to enlist the help of a client of mine, who happens to be a WP-wizzard. Thank a-diety-of-your-choosing for the existence of specialists! :P

Thanks nevertheless for your input!
