Wordpress 3.5 breaks Suffusion

Postby writerdave » 11 Dec 2012, 11:27

I mentioned one problem in another thread, but since I've found at least one other I decided to start a thread on Wordpress 3.5 upgrade problems.

So, upgraded to Wordpress 3.5 and the following happened:

1. Featured content slider on the home page stopped working (does not display anything).
2. I use a custom layout for the home page. Widgets were all set to 'All widgets in this widget area have the same height'. They used to, now they don't... the widgets displayed have different heights.

I've noticed a lot of weird things since I updated to WP 3.5. Besides the disappearing slider that others have reported, the excerpt boxes on the front page are all different heights now, as are the category boxes.

Also, whenever I try to save new settings in the Suffusion theme settings, it now asks that I approve an FTP connection, as if I were updating a plugin.

Interesting. Go to scripts/suffusion.js and look for this line:
Code: Select all
      this.$slides = this.$container.children($slides + ':first');

Change it to:
Code: Select all
      this.$slides = this.$container.children($slides);

This should at least fix the problem with the slideshow.

Thanks for the quick response! That also fixed the excerpt & category box height issue.

I apologize, but where exactly can I find the scripts page? I looked in the editor page but not seeing suffusion.js.

That is thanks to a WP limitation. You will have to edit it via your host's control panel (if they offer one), or download it via FTP, edit it and re-upload it. The file should be under wp-content/themes/suffusion/scripts.

Ah, ok. Thanks

Edit: Awesome, fixed. Thanks again for your work. :D

sayontan, thank you. Your suffusion.js fix worked just fine, fixing both the featured slider and the height of widgets.

Thanks so much.

This change didn't fix the slideshow for me...
