Formatting issues encountered when upgrading to 3.5.7

Post by kurdi » 18 Jul 2010, 00:11

Two issues suddenly appeared

(1) Header formatting messed up. Please see the before and after image below.
http://www.freewaregenius.com/wp-conten ... after2.jpg

In 3.5.7, the top nav suddenly assumed the same background color as the general background for some reason. As a consequence, it became impossible to properly display a gradient that runs from color A to color B.

I hope I am making clear what I mean; please see the image in the link above.

(2) The other strange issue is that the following syntax in tables
td valign="top"
stopped performing its function in pushing the contents of a table to the top.

Like I said, all of these happened when upgrading Suffusion to the 3.5.7 version. I am hoping that there is a quick fix of some sort that I can use to remedy these issues. Please advise.

Thanks!

PHOTO DISPLAY PROBLEM AFTER UPGRADING TO 3.5.7

I too have had formatting problems after upgrading to 3.5.7 today (July 18, 2010)

I also upgraded to Wordpress.org 3.0 today as well.

Photos that I have on my site (using 'Cincopa' plug-in) which previously were displayed as 5 thumbnails per line across my site pages, now display as only 4 on one line and then 1 on a second line.

Example of what it does now: http://australianhousesforsale.com.au/plants

The whole width of my grey content area looks narrower as well, could this be involved in the issue?

How can I get 5 photos per line again? (or 10 on two lines etc)

I just finished building the site a few days ago (with no previous tech or blog knowledge) and then let people know about it. (pre upgrade to WP and Suffusion) Now, that seems premature.

I was going to upload some more photos next week and then the site was going to be truly finished, whereupon, 'coffee' was coming your way.

Your earliest assistance with this problem Sayontan (or others?) would be much appreciated.

And in simple non tech 'suitable for idiots' language if possible, because I'm nowhere near as sharp at this as you guys are.

Thanks.

Not sure about the whole issue you guys are talking about but to make the width of your content area bigger you can go into the Suffusion Theme Options and Visual Effects and Sizes and Margins and control your page content and sidebar look from within there, that should help with your photo problem for now.

Samer,
The first one is due to the correction of certain wrong behavior in previous versions. In other words it is now behaving correctly (or as I intended). It should be easy to make this work for you, though. Do this:
1. Go to Visual Effects -> Theme Skinning. Under Body Background Settings put in http://www.freewaregenius.com/wp-conten ... &height=90 for the Body Background Image. I guess your Body Background Color is 323232 - leave it at that.
2. Now go to Visual Effects -> Header Customization -> Header Background Image Type and pick "No image".

This should fix your background issues.

For the second issue, valign="top" is not preferred syntax. Put this in your custom.css file (I believe you are using a separate file instead of using the Custom Styles option):

Code: Select all

td {
    vertical-align: top;
}
Wolftalker,
Go to Blog Features -> Custom Includes -> Custom Styles and put this in and save:

Code: Select all

blockquote {
    margin: 0 2em 1em 2em;
}

Hey Sayontan,

your simple solution and the easy way you presented it for me worked.
Thank you very much, it's much appreciated.

Dark_Fox28 thank you also for your time and input.

Adios.
