PX not defined

Postby ancimonza » 03 Nov 2009, 01:02

Hi Sayontan, thanks from Italy for your great theme I just installed on my young son's blog.

Since I'm not a coder my question might be simple: I noticed a lot of "PX not defined" errors when I try to open the blog page http://ancimonza.dyndns.org with IE8 (Italian version). No errors are found with Fireworks.

For your convenience, this is the image of the error:

One more thing: has the option to enlarge the theme accordingly to screen width disappeared in the last version? I couldn't find it anymore.

I apologize for my poor English.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi,
I am not able to see any errors when I load it into IE8 on my machine. Did this get fixed?

You are correct - I removed the option to "expand" the width if you have two sidebars. But I introduced a different option to help you get back the previous width. In your options page go to "Sizes and Margins" and set "Overall Page Width" to 1200px. Your page will become wider.

Sayontan

Hi Sayontan.
No I coundn't fix the error yet and now that I tried with two different PCs (with IE8) I can confirm that the problem is still unsolved. I 'm gonna try to launch IE8 in safe mode and with no Antivirus (KIS 2010) enabled to check if they have some influence.

Last, thanks for the new width options but it seems the widget bar width is fixed (a percentage of the overall width?) so with a 1000px my two bars are not enough wide; with a 1200px they are fine, but the overall width is too much for a lot of PCs. May I suggest to add the option to set every single width instead of the overall one?

Thanks once again for your prompt reply.

I just tried with IE8 in safe mode and with KIS disabled, but the error is still there.

Paul,
I will build the functionality to set individual widths, probably in the next few days. I can show you how to change the widths for now, if you are interested. You don't have to modify any files for this. Do you want me to provide you the way to do this?

I tried looking at your website in IETester, which lets me open a site in a different version of IE. I did not see a problem there. I am downloading a virtual image of IE8 to run a different test. Let me see how it goes.

Question for you - did you install any plugins recently?

No problem to wait for some days, take your time!

With a view to Plugins, no, they've been installed since form the beginning: here is the list.

Add From Server Versione 2.2.1
Custom Meta Versione 1.0
Lightview Plus Versione 2.3.6
Simple Tags Versione 1.6.6
Sociable Versione 3.5.2

I don't remember if some of them were automatically updated, anyway.

I'm gonna test after having disabled all of them.

Thx once again.

Sayontan, I would GREATLY appreciate knowing how to change column widths - would like wider sidebars (300px) and 400px center column.

best,

Charlie

Hi,
Please see here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=54 .
You can use the "Custom Styles" section and put in the widths as defined above. I am in the process of making some changes, but the functionality to control this through the theme will not be ready for a few days at least.

Regards,
Sayontan.
