Adding elements to the right of the logo

Postby kurdi » 17 Mar 2010, 14:48

Hello,
I was wondering if it would be possible in the future to add elements to the right of the logo, NOT in a widget above or below the header but next to the logo on the right inside the header.

Typically this is a good placement for horizontal banner ads, but also I would like to be able to add anything there (e.g. "follow me" type elements, a search box, or even the bottom nav tab element itself.

Currently it seems like the header in Suffusion suffers from a whole lot of wasted (premium) space.

My site is www.freewaregenius.com. I am in the process of customizing Suffusion on a local install on my hard drive, and will soon move to this amazing theme. Thanks Sayontan for a job well done with Suffusion!

I have plans to add widget areas there.

My workaround was to put the header in the widget area below the header, but that has not worked for other reasons. I am looking forward to this feature.

I am a major fan of this theme and the support community.

Sayontan,
Any info on when this may be coming?

Or alternately, is there any theme hack that can be done to insert an ad to the right of the logo without waiting for a widget style option in a future version?

I do enjoy empty space. I do not enjoy crowded space everywhere, plugged with adverds etc. Just my 5 cents to this remark ;)

There is a Left-Header-Widget-Area and a Right-Header-Widget-Area. Is this not enough?

I am a spanking new user of Suffusion and I am completely wowed. It is a fantastic piece of work!

But as I am working with all the options, I'm hoping some "old hands" might guide me.

On this topic, the way I understand the right-header widget is that it is kind of a "right-nav-bar" widget, which is very neat in itself<big smile>.

The challenge the original poster might have been addressing may be similar to mine: I don't want an ad under the header image, but would like to keep that clean. I have the description left-aligned under the text logo. I would like to right-align a banner ad to the right of the logo area.

I migrated from Atahualpa to Suffusion literally just today so I may not have found some tips that are already posted.

The closest I found was the great notes on adding custom php http://www.aquoid.com/news/2010/05/using-custom-php-with-suffusion/ but if someone has already done it, I thought couldn't hurt to ask.

This is really in the wrong forum since I'm not asking for it to be added as a feature -- I'm amazed at how feature rich it is already.

This is a feature request and it is one of those that I can commit to address. That being said the last 4-6 weeks I have been busy trying to put in features from WP 3.0

I would love to be able to place either a Google ad into the actual header area just like you can do with the Atahualpa theme or have my categories in the header bar, possibly even a tabbed header bar. ( did i spell that right ? )

Not really sure what you mean by "categories in the header bar" - can you please elaborate?

Add certain categories directly into middle part of the header space along from the blog title, indeed make them blend in with the rotating imagesyou can put there, perhaps a tabbed bar there which can open, it would need an option to exclude some categories otherwise fitting them in would be a problem. Maybe have a tabbed bar with categories directly under the header blog title section where i currently have a search option.
