Tile Listing - Show Tags or Post Category

Postby Dark_Fox28 » 16 Aug 2010, 11:33

I am currently using tiles and one full post setting, i have used the Wordpress default continue reading to cut down the full post and enabled it as a sticky so i can actively choose the post i wish to display as an excerpt on the front page.

I have switched off the images on tile display but one thing i do miss from an SEO perspective and from a reader perspective is that tiles do not show the category of the post the way an excerpt on the front page does.

Is it possible to have tiles on the front page and display the category of the post and also if i wanted to can i also display the tags beneath the tile.

Now i know this will start to make it look more like an excerpt but i like the fact you can have two or three posts next to each other which is nice from a design point of view but i feel adding the category or tags would be a nice option to this.

Also the option to turn on images for maybe just the first row beneath the full post ( excerpt ) would be nice while the other tiles have no images or better yet individual control over what tiles have images enabled.

Is this possible. ?

That is on my agenda, but not immediately.

This is beyond consideration.

I have images enabled for excerpts which is what you see when you click the categories, thus adding an image to a tile would likely mean two images in the excerpts/categories section, if i automatically added an image to tiles to show on the front page is there a way to disable that image from showing within excerpts since i wish images in excerpts to show but i don't want two images in there, perhaps some special code i could add to the css section. ?

Incidentally why is it beyond consideration, is the coding too difficult or is it something you just don't feel worthwhile doing. ?

Didn't really understand how you plan to add an image to a tile.

Both. It is too much work for something that has little value. There is no end to adding customizability to things.
