By the way... No chance that Suffusion will get "back on track" again (and become upgradable etc. directly through Wordpress)?

I think it highly unlikely. I don't have the skills to perform the code hoops that the WPTRT require the theme to now jump through. Maybe someone else does and if so they could adopt the theme and modify it BUT a lot of the theme's functionality would have to be removed to comply with their latest guidelines.

Hmm...

I have a multi site environment. Must I do the upgrade on each site or can I somehow do it once as a Network admin?

I might give it a try. One question first though... When I look in the zip-file (Suffusion 4.5.4) I can see __MACOSX. What's that one for?

Upgrade of Suffusion 4.5.4 (by ftp) and upgrade of Wordpress 5.0.3 went well and everything seems to work just fine. :)
