How do you "tweak" the core files?

I finally upgrade to Suffusion 4.2.
In this post, http://aquoid.com/news/2012/03/upcoming ... suffusion/, it says we need to tweak the tags in any core files we have in our child themes.

I have no idea what that means or entails.

I have comments.php and layout-list.php

Could someone point me in the right direction?

Try comparing these 2 files from your child theme with what Suffusion provides. Your changes should be minimal, though.

Got it. The comments form was no problem but the layout one took more brain power.
