Post sidebars not matching Blog sidebars

Postby juliab » 17 May 2012, 10:08

Hi there,

How do I specify a sidebar layout for posts different than the site default? I want to make it the same as the Blog default.

Details: The site I'm working on uses left-hand sidebars overall, but the client wants right sidebars on the blog. I've gotten the sidebars to the right on the blog page, but on individual posts, it reverts to the site default (left). In the Suffusion Layout options, I don't see anything called "Post Views," which would follow the other settings.

The blog page is http://dianeelevin.com/blog/ and a sample individual post is http://dianeelevin.com/2012/the-parent- ... s-win-out/.

Thanks!
Julia

Use "Additional options for Suffusion" under the edit window and select the appropriate sidebar layout there for the post. If the Options aren't showing click on screen options top right to display them.

Thanks, Colin! That's a great fix per post, but is there any way to just set a default sidebar layout for blogposts? It's not ideal for the layout to be tied in with posting, which is something usually done on the client side...

Thanks!

The automatic way is to set the default view as you wish to be for post (writes by client) and change the view for static pages (settled by you, and remain unchanged for long time) at Additional Options for Suffusion.

What Drake said. Basically set your defaults to be the one you want to change least frequently. E.g. you don't want to change your layout for each post, so make its layout the default. For your blog / category views set them up as exceptions (i.e. NOT defaults) in the options once.

Thanks guys, done! That certainly works as a solution, though I do wish that there were "Post Views" that were changeable like the "Category Views" etc. Maybe in the future? ;)

Thanks again for your help!
