Sub Menu

Last question for today, at least. Trying to see if I can make this happen. Appreciate any help!

My menu is in the sidebar. No Nav bars in my theme.

I want to have a Title in the Menu that is not a page or a post. But from that Title I would have several sub-menu pages that can be clicked onto that page.

For example:

Home
About Us
Salon Services: (title) & when clicked a sub-menu would appear with the following page options.
-Custom Facials
-Specialty Treatments
-Acne Treatments
Blog
Etc

Is this possible to do ?? Maybe not with this theme, thought I would ask thou.

Otherwise, One way out I thought would be to have a Salon Services page and from this page I would have the links to the other pages.
or
I can have a category in the menu and on the category page I would have post excerpts to these services.

For having just a title in menu for parent page at the Edit Page screen, below the edit area, at Additional Options for Suffusion - tick the checkbox for "Do not link to this page in the navigation bars".

For making a folding menu with pages you can use an old plugin which still work fine: Fold List Pages. I use this at http://www.lustre-covoare.ro - for the menu from sidebar (click on "Lana" or "Sintetice") in this way:
- the pages are created in the right parent/children tree;
- while the plugin is a simple script, without an option page, you need to insert a call to the script, which call accept all wp_list_pages arguments. Because I don't like to edit files while isn't the last resort, I used Exec PHP plugin and I insert this in a simple text widget:
Code: Select all
<?php wswwpx_fold_page_list ("child_of=11&title_li=Covoare"); ?>
<?php wswwpx_fold_page_list ("child_of=13&title_li=Corpuri de Iluminat"); ?>

Wow, thank you drake for this tidbit. I wasn't sure how this could be managed. I will certainly look into it more deeply.

Let me repeat this please, With the second option, I can upload 2 plugins - Fold list pages, (set the settings) and also use a Exec Php plugin and in this plugin I insert your gracious script you included. I hope it'll be that simple.

I guess tomorrow is another day now for me. Thanxs, I was surprised to find a solution.

If I may ask another request - I am also looking for a " back to top " insertion to go at the bottom of my pages. I am not familiar with breadcrumbs which I think is only shows: next 1 2 3 previous. Do you know the back to top option ??

For "to top" I just installed and tested Dynamic "To top" Plugin. Everythings seems to be fine, installation was smooth and the button start to work without any issue as you can see by eg. at http://www.lustre-covoare.ro/produse/covoare/lana/arabica/

While you are there take a look on the sidebar. There are another 2 sidebars menu ideas.

First of them is a implementation of original superfish vertical menu (now is styled exactly with the example CSS bundled in superfish zip package). Is a little harder to implement than the first idea but maybe worth a try because it can look really nice.

The second make use of Collapsible Widget Areas plugin - I created 2 Custom Menus at Appearance, then I added those menus as collapsible widgets. The pros - simply to implement, no need any coding, just standard uses of menus/widgets. The cons - on any page you are, the first submenu will be open by default.
