multisite default template & comment closed

Postby xuefang » 14 Jul 2012, 18:08

Hi,

I have suffusion 4.2.4 on my multisite www.jollyvip.com. I had suffusion 4.0.4 on a (normal) site which I exported inorder to move to the multisite. On the normal site (one right sidebar or 2 columns ), the 'comment closed' worked fine and also fine for my other suffusion site (not 4.2.4).

On the multiside, the 'comment closed' appeared (even after I checked all the settings that I'm aware of for 'comment closed') on every pages except for Magazine template. Note this on jollyvip.com/insuredatarisk (magazine template) and this jollyvip.com/insuredatarisk/reports (default template).

Also, please how do I get rid of the 'bookmark & share' at end of every pages.

Many thanks,
Cher

For the second question you need to look at your plugins - Suffusion or even WordPress don't have options for adding sharing icons at the bottom of posts/pages. Your site use AddThis, so check if this plugin have an option to not add automatically those icons at the end of posts/pages. If not, uninstall the plugin and look for another which have this posibility (there are tens of plugins for this purpose)...

For the first - my guess that is another problem related to your plugins, or maybe to an edited file of theme. Because the message of Suffusion on the pages/posts with comments closed is: "Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time." not "Comments are closed".
Also in your source you have these lines, which aren't in original post-footer.php:
Code: Select all
<!-- You can start editing here. -->
<!-- If comments are closed. -->
<p class="nocomments">Comments are closed.</p>

Many thanks Drake!

Gosh..plugins are magic in many ways especially with multisite - parent & child - parent control ALL hahah..

Both issues are plugins related. Well spotted!

Easily cured with disabling at multisite level, other challenges ahead.

Great support here!

Hi,

Although I said 'parent control all' in my previous post, the Magazine template is not controlled by the 'parent'. I've not looked into why this is so..

Instead I need to check with folks here whether the ordering of child theme installation (using Suffusion Theme) matters in multisite WP, especially as I'm moving (export/import) Suffusion SITES to a multisite. What I meant by ordering is this;
1) Install multisite WP
2) move a suffusion theme site to the multisite (e.g. insuredatarisk)
3) setup a child suffusion theme (My Site)
4) move another suffusion theme site to the multisite (via child) (moved a non-suffusion site - an old site, craftqi)

Also, it's my first experience with child theme (& also multisite), so am exploring 'parent-child'.
Using the above ordering, the site(s) moved in step 2) is NOT viewable/accessible via the child theme (obviously?), only the theme moved in step 4) is viewable. Screen shots in attachment.

If I have done 1), 3), 2) & 4) then I'm deploying 'parent-child' correctly, right?

Sorry folks! Confusing attachment. Please ingore the attachment.

Thanks for reading this & hope to hear comments/suggestions etc.

Cher
p.s.
hope this posting is OK under this forum group.
