Make changes to Header

Postby terricomp » 03 Aug 2012, 08:57

Hi, I'm trying to get my header just right. Two issues: first, I would like to move my logo just a bit to the right, as my background (plain white box) border is slightly hidden. Second, I would like to add my contact info (email address, phone) at the right of the background image. But when I add it to the white box, either the text does not show at all, or it is very blurry. I have tried GIF, JPG. Any ideas?

Is this a different question to your other header thread?

It is, thanks. Before I couldn't get the background image to show at all. Please excuse my inexperience in this forums. Some like you to continue in the same post, but others insist you begin a new subject. I would like to insert contact information in the header, but do not see a way to do it clearly. Wouldn't it be great if you could just insert a text box and type directly on the site? We can always dream.

There is a widget area you can use - it is called "Header Widgets". Add a text widget there and put in the content you wish. Alternatively you can consider modifying your background image by adding the appropriate text.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that, but the header widget inserts plain text only and butts up against the right margin. And when I try to add text to my background it comes out very blurry. Any ideas? www.dev.terricomp.com.

If you use the same wordpress that we use, the standard text widget inserts plain text AND/OR HTML. So
<p><b>title</b></p>
<p>line1<br />
line2</p>
is a valid construction and will have as result a formatted text...

The text widget can be also moved by CSS in desired position in header.

Yeap... use a graphical editor, MS Publisher don't seems to be suitable for editing images for web. As free tool exist GIMP.

Thank you, thank you! The secret was to use an online graphical editor (I chose Pixlr, really quick and easy) to add text to my blank box. Looks so much better! Now, the only issue I have is how to move the logo over just a bit to the right in the header. Can you explain? You guys are so helpful.

Add at Suffusion Options -> Backend -> Custom Includes -> Custom Style:

Code: Select all
#header {margin-left:15px;}

Adjust the value of 15px as you like.
