Re: A new version of Suffusion? Have your say.
Hi Colin, Drake and Sayontan.
Sorry for posting this here, however I have submitted my reply twice already in the URL above in the last 3 days but has not been posted yet. I am not sure if my reply is going to spam or not. I will keep you posted if it does show up. If it does show up you can remove my reply from here. Thank you.
Hello Sayontan, first of all thank you for such a great theme.
I have been using this theme for many years. I have also written countless instructions and tutorials to help others. I still have not completed my mission with my current Suffusion project. I always consider you part of my project.
Now getting back to your suggestions above. "In this case it would be the URL above"
I would prefer that you stay on board with your project “Suffusion”. You know the ins and outs of Suffusion.
What I suggest is, try and see if any developer out there with good knowledge can come on board to help you. I am sure there are many current Suffusion users who have plenty of knowledge about theme development and are great coders. You can then become the overall project manager and designate different duties to your team.
This in return will allow you to stay on board, spend more time with your family and enjoy Suffusion’s growth. Which will keep growing as more people become aware of the power and flexibility this theme has.
I agree with @Colin. The idea to create a new version would help the new users install that version and those running the old version would eventually migrate to the new version. The features that you remove from the old version could become add-ons “plugins” to the new theme. Of course the part about add-ons can only be implemented if you have more help staff managing the theme.
Regards

Re: A new version of Suffusion? Have your say.
I commented on the blog post. I like the idea of a trimmed down suffusion 2 but I understand that time is a factor. What about a "save suffusion" campaign? It has been downloaded over a million times. Even if it is in use on just a quarter of the download sites, people like me don't want to lose it and might be willing to make donations... if everybody donates $5 then that might be helpful. I realize money doesn't buy happiness but it sure does help.

More than two months have passed sinced the announcement of a new version of Suffusion 'coming soon'. Is there any news on this topic?
Thanks in advance for your kind reply.

No news at all? Last week I tried to submit a comment with the same question at http://aquoid.com/news/2015/02/photonic ... /#comments but it is still awaiting moderation...
Re: A new version of Suffusion? Have your say.
I think you will find that Sayontan has had to go away again and so may not have necessary access.
Re: A new version of Suffusion? Have your say.
I can't find the theme Suffusion in the list of official themes of WordPress.org any more and I can't download it right away from an WordPress installation any longer. Does this mean that there won't be a new WordPress approved version? I know that the new theme version would need some plug-ins in order to have the same functionality as the current theme has and I know this would be a lot of work, so I can understand this really takes a lot of time. I love the flexibility of Suffusion, so I do hope it will be kept compatible with the newest WordPress versions.Colin wrote:I think you will find that Sayontan has had to go away again and so may not have necessary access.
Re: A new version of Suffusion? Have your say.
It's not only the compatibility of Suffusion with the newest WordPress-versions (The release date of WordPress 4.4 is planned for December 8th!) that concern me. I also wonder about the vulnerabilities because of outdated scripts. Is there a simple way for a non-techie like me to delete scripts that I don't use? Like the Slider-option?
Re: A new version of Suffusion? Have your say.
There are no vulnerabilities AFAIK in Suffusion. If there were they would have been picked up by the WPTRT or one of the external checking companies.

I should also add that Suffusion works fine in my Wordpress 4.4 test environment.
