Sidebar formatting issue, 3.7.8

Post by kippy » 09 Mar 2011, 11:21

I first need to say, incredible theme! I have used the free themes, and premium paid themes, and yours has got to be one of the most flexible, well thought out themes available. So kudos!

Having recently upgraded my theme from 3.7.3 to the latest 3.7.8, I am experiencing some sidebar formatting issues. Using Sidebar 1 and Sidebar 1 (bottom). I setup a couple test sites for you to see the problem. Both sites are WP 3.1, no plugins, using either Suffusion 3.7.3 or 3.7.8, standard widgets (3 in sidebar 1, 1 in bottom). I have Sidebar 1 setup as tabbed, however the problem exists as boxed or flat. No other settings have been configured, all default.

Suffusion 3.7.3 test site: http://www.crossroadsgeo.com/suf373/

Suffusion 3.7.8 test site: http://www.crossroadsgeo.com/suf378/

There is also a link in the default post allowing you to change between both sites.

Please let me know if you require login for further evaluation.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like a bug from my end. To fix it you can go to wp-content/themes/suffusion/widget-areas.php. Look for these lines (should be around line 220):

Code: Select all

register_sidebar(array(
	'name' => 'Sidebar 1',
	'id' => 'sidebar-1',
	"description" => "This is the default sidebar. If only one sidebar is selected in the theme options, this is the one displayed.
                    It can be placed on the left or right side. In case two sidebars are selected and both are on the same side, this is the outer sidebar.",
	'before_widget' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['before_widget'],
	'after_widget' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['after_widget'],
	'before_title' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['before_title'],
	'after_title' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['after_title'],
));
register_sidebar(array(
	'name' => 'Sidebar 1 (Bottom)',
	'id' => 'sidebar-9',
	"description" => "This sits below Sidebar 1 and is positioned on the same side as Sidebar 1",
	'before_widget' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['before_widget'],
	'after_widget' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['after_widget'],
	'before_title' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['before_title'],
	'after_title' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['after_title'],
));
Change it to:

Code: Select all

register_sidebar(array(
	'name' => 'Sidebar 1',
	'id' => 'sidebar-1',
	"description" => "This is the default sidebar. If only one sidebar is selected in the theme options, this is the one displayed.
                    It can be placed on the left or right side. In case two sidebars are selected and both are on the same side, this is the outer sidebar.",
	'before_widget' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['before_widget'],
	'after_widget' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['after_widget'],
	'before_title' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['before_title'],
	'after_title' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['after_title'],
));

if (isset($sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$suf_wa_sb1b_style])) {
	$sb_style = $suf_wa_sb1b_style;
}
else {
	$sb_style = 'boxed';
}
register_sidebar(array(
	'name' => 'Sidebar 1 (Bottom)',
	'id' => 'sidebar-9',
	"description" => "This sits below Sidebar 1 and is positioned on the same side as Sidebar 1",
	'before_widget' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['before_widget'],
	'after_widget' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['after_widget'],
	'before_title' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['before_title'],
	'after_title' => $sidebar_definitions['sidebar-1'][$sb_style]['after_title'],
));
If you are hesitant to fix it you can temporarily make both sidebars have the same layout.
