Plugins for mobile devices

What plugin should I install to enable my blog to be displayed on most current mobile devices and IPads? Some of my viewers are having problems getting a proper display of my blog on their devices. I would appreciate your recommendation regarding this software. Thanks. I use the Suffusion 3.7.3 theme on the WP 3.0.4 version platform. My browser is Firefox 3.0.13 and my OS is Windows XP.

Have a look at the WPtouch plugin. This type of query would be better asked & answered on the Wordpress forum though.

I'll look at your recommended plugin. I did enter a topic for this kind of information with the WP forum, but I didn't get any help from them. Thanks for your response. We'll see if it works.

I have a question regarding mobile plugins and Suffusion, I have been using WPTouch, but since I've change to magazine view, I cannot seem to find any that will show the posts, it seems they all will just show the text on the page, the posts no longer show up. Is there a mobile plugin that works with the Suffusion theme being in magazine view?

I am having the same issue as jairomeo. The mobile plugins for WP seem to default to the choice made in the "Reading" options, which I have set to "static page" - "front page: magazine". The only way to get the mobile views to work that I have found is to make the Reading option "latest posts". This, of course, defeats my intention to offer the more attractive magazine format for desktop users, just to appease the limitations of mobile devices.

Apologies in advance if this is addressed somewhere else. I tried searching first.

I don't believe there is a way out without my building in "responsive design" features into the theme.

Dear Sayontan,

I'm very grateful for all the work you've done on Suffusion which I love, thank you.

But I really need my pages to be seen and look good on ipad and mobile devices. You mention building responsive design - is that something you're thinking of doing?

I'm aware of the huge amount of work that goes into this and don't want to burden you further, but do you have any suggestions on how we can use the great features of Suffusion and Magazine and look good on fixed and mobile screens?

best

What I have seen someone do was build a second version of their site on a subdomain e.g. m.domain.com, and have mobile users automatically directed to that version. I have a feeling that I saw the plugin that does this for sale on the Warrior Forum, but I'm not positive. If I come across it again I'll let you know.

Thanks Isobel. That may work. I'll see if I can get some advice from my hosting company too. I hate looking left behind by people with Ipads.

I have a workaround that will do for now. This allows me to present my latest posts to mobile users - not the website home page.

I'm using WPTouch Pro (which comes at a cost)

Under Setting Reading select your home page (as you've titled it) as the page and a page of posts as posts (which you create from a page template)

Then you can ask WPTouch Pro to set a custom home page - which will be your page of posts.

You then need to do some tweaking, including setting featured image to get pictures to show up with the posts on mobile devices.

This allows me to have some content available to people with mobile devices, including the influential group who have ipads.

Still optimising
