Disabling Comment Boxes

Postby destritt » 07 Mar 2012, 14:06

I have leave a comment boxes on both my 'about me' and 'contact us' pages. How do I disable those? If I have a contact us page, asking visitors to leave a reply is redundant.

Thank you for the link Sayontan but those items listed are for disabling comments on posts or pages. What I need to do is completely remove the leave comment features from my contact us and about me pages on my site. In other words, on my contact us page at the bottom this box appears.

I don't want to show this feature on the site. Is there a way to completely remove this?

Thank you!

... And unless you have some really weird setup, "Contact Us" and "About Me" are pages. So the instructions from the above should work for you.

Forgive my confusion and ignorance Sayontan as this all new to me. No, I don't think I have a weird set up. The settings discussed in the link you sent me have been done on my site for a while and do work well for disallowing comments on posts and pages.

But is there a way to remove that whole area on these pages that ask to leave a reply. In other words, here is an excerpt of my about me page.

Is there a way to remove that whole area in red so it does not show up at the bottom of the page? I think it might be under theme options but I can't find it.

Thanks much!

That is exactly what I am trying to tell you. This has nothing to do with the theme at all.

Then here is a question: What is "About Me"? Is it a page? If so, and if you have indeed disabled comments the way the article describes, there is no reason why you should see the red text. Just read the article carefully and ensure that for the "About Me" page "Allow Comments" has been unchecked.

The "Posted By" can be disabled from the options (Other Graphical Elements -> Post and Page Bylines -> Pages -> Show "Posted By" for Pages), but the comment form display is entirely out of Suffusion's hands.

Thank you Sayontan for the reply but the disable comments options have been unchecked for a while and I still have that area highlighted in red on my site. Not sure what the problem is.

I don't know how to do this Sayontan. I tried sending you the info but it will not accept htm or .doc file extensions.

Thanks for all your help!

Hi,
Don't know if you have figured out a solution yet but the following has just worked for me:
1. Click on the page you need to change.
2. Click Edit, in the top right-hand corner click on the screen options button and then tick the discussion box from the drop-down box.
3. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see the heading Discusson. Then untick the box that says allow comments.
5. Finally update the page to save changes and your are done.
6. ENJOY.
