is there a way to show the categories as drop downs of a page or the other way around?

Custom menus allow you to do most anything. Try creating a custom menu and moving your menu items around.

To elaborate on what @elurie said, try Appearance -> Menus. You can add menus as you please from there. Alternatively consider using Mega Menus bundled with Suffusion.

I never touched Appearance > Menus cause I thought that was a WP feature and that it could mess with Suffusion...
Also I don't see Mega Menus in Suffusion...

Well, Mega Menus are bundled within the Appearance -> Menus. See this post: http://aquoid.com/news/2012/02/suffusion-version-4-0-0/.
Suffusion works with multiple types of menus - its own drop-down menus, native WP menus and mega-menus. Whichever one you choose, it will work. Even a combination of menus works to a large extent.

oh cool...
my confusion arose from the fact that I thought Appearance -> Menus was a WP thing and not a Suffusion thing...
I haven't looked at a WP install without Suffusion in years!!! So when a Suffusion thing is outside of the Suffusion Options I thought it wasn't Suffusion...
I mean Suffusion is really what WP should have been along along and to me it's unthinkable to use WP without Suffusion, and you can quote me on that
