Custom Post Types

Hi there,

I love the new separate plugin UI for managing custom post types. But excuse me if this is a silly question; what can I actually do with custom post types in Suffusion itself?

Ideally I'd love to have a post type "restaurant review" which gives the blog entry a different layout, to be able to filter category/tag views by this post type, to be able to use only certain post types in my featured content slider, etc. etc.

How can I achieve the above?

This feature has been built into the theme in the upcoming 4.2.0 version.

Ahh, brilliant.

Is there a way to change / set a given blog entry's post type?

i.e. in the Edit Post view in Wordpress, I'm able to change the post format (standard, aside, gallery, link, etc.) but I can't figure out how to change the post type.

Not from the back-end. You can create a post of a new post type but not reassign post types.

Thanks. (In the end I found a plugin called "Post Type Switcher" - sounds like a bad idea but will give it a go.)

I've also noticed that custom post types created in Suffusion Custom Post Types don't have the option to support default categories and tags taxonomies. Is that correct, or am I missing something?

Well, the CPT plugin for Suffusion is based on code written a long time back and is due a rewrite. I don't believe it supports native categories and taxonomies, however if you have a plugin that does those for you, you could use that plugin with version 4.2.0 of Suffusion - it should work fine.
