I have disabled the extra widget area below the header.
However, when I view an individual post, that widget area shows up (empty). It doesn't show up when I view my main blog.. just when I click on an individual post. Any ideas?

Hi Matt,
What you are seeing is not the widget area, but it is something that I thought would rarely happen. You only have one post on your blog. What you are seeing there is a navigation panel for individual posts. If you had more than one post, you would see links to the older and newer posts in that bar.
I will fix this in the next release, but for now, if you have one more post you will cease seeing this.
