Theme Upgrade Question

Postby movieman » 11 Dec 2009, 09:19

Hi,

Since for some reason I have a hard time upgrading automatically on Wordpress what I normally do is put my site in another theme, delete the old Suffusion theme from the Themes folder and upload the newest one, in this case 3.0.6 (I was previously at 2.x.x., can't remember which, but I know I hadn't upgrade to the 3.0 series). Now, when I look at the themes it says I'm at 3.0.6 but still states that there is a newer version available. Is this normal?

Also, am I OK or is there some settings in there that might be effected? I've looked at the site and everything looks fine (although I now notice that my one tab in the navigation bar is missing, the other with my home page is still there), but thought I should ask.

Thanks,
Brian

What has probably happened is that you have multiple installations of the theme and the wrong one is being picked up. Make sure you don't have any backup copies of the theme anywhere, and you do not have one "Suffusion" folder nested under another.

No, everything looks OK in the themes folder. I'm looking using FileZilla and I know I completely deleted it from there as what was left in the Themes folder were the 2 other themes I have and that's it. I then uploaded the new one. Not a big deal as I don't like using the Auto Update as it rarely (well, never, actually) works for me, lol. I just wanted to make sure that that was an OK method to use upgrading from 2.x to 3.0.6

Well, if it works, then well and good. WordPress auto-upgrade is kind of funny, sometimes.
