page load time

Postby nyrmanny » 24 Dec 2009, 10:41

I was wondering if there was a way to speed up the theme so it loads faster. For example, there are a lot of different .css calls that don't load the page until some elements in the first 3-4 .css files are finished. I would like to have all the .css files load first, then the elements. For example the style.css is the last to load .
I can see this by going to http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ and doing the test from there and lists how the page is loaded.
By the way, this is an awesome theme !!! The best I have come across, I will gladly donate to you once I get some money :D

Hi,
Thanks for the input. I took a look at the site you mentioned and tried running the theme's announcement site (http://www.aquoid.com/news). In terms of loading, style.css is the last to load because it is imported in one of the other CSS files. Instead of importing it I could pull it up to a level higher, but it will not show any significant improvement in the speed. I believe I could look at pre-loading the images, since they seem to be the last to load. Overall, though, the images are tiny (mostly < 1 KB) and among the files themselves, JQuery and style.css are the largest (though not massive).
Let me see what I can do.

Thanks ! I tried to put the style.css file in notepad and word wrap it, and it works great, takes out all the extra spaces and didn't harm the theme at all, still works fine. Also it save some KB that way. Now going to clean up the other file sizes so it loads fast. thanks again for a great theme
