A Few Killer Features....

Postby diondeville » 22 Jan 2010, 09:17

Hello Sayontan, I have a couple of features that will be really helpful were they implemented:

1, When you update the theme please can you include a list of updates in the FAQ section of the theme's options page,

2, This one any one can do for themselves but it would be nice to have the option included in the theme as standard, can you include a template with reversed widget sidebar locations. I know we can change the default placement of the sidebars (e.g sidebar 1 at left, sidebar 2 at right) but it would be handy to have a template that places the sidebars in reverse order to the default setting. Alternatively, an option to reverse the sidebars or exclude a specific sidebar when a page is created,

3, I don't know whether this will be possible but it would be great to be able to change a blogs displayed logo title on a per page basis. For example, at the moment, my main blog always displays JournalXtra in the header, what I would like to do is have it display The Xtra Directory (or similar) in the header of my Directory Page,

4, Is it possible to adapt the theme so we can specify a unique background image for the html tag on a per page basis or per post basis (this would mean it only displays when a specific post is viewed in absence of any other posts).

I know there's a lot there but they would be really cool additions to the theme.

Thank you for reading this Sayontan,

Dion

Hi Dion,
To answer your questions:
1. The list of updates are in the ChangeLog.txt file. I am not a big fan of replicating information in multiple places and I prefer not to put the information in the options page, because the back-end code for that page is huge - more than 5000 lines.

2. This is in my plan. I will have more templates to use, but I need to complete some groundwork for it. I have been steadily building towards it, but a good bit of work still needs to be done.

3. That would be seriously pushing the limits - it is nowhere in my plans. You might want to look at specific plugins for this.

4. You can try using the AJAXed WordPress plugin and define custom styles for pages/posts. However I am not very certain that works well with the theme. Other than that it is a good bit of code addition.
