It's possible to add some Match captcha?

Postby Dagon84 » 08 Jan 2010, 11:14

Hi,

i dont'k know about your blogs, but mine its full of spam comments; yes, i tried akismet and it works really good, but i was thinking to ad some captcha plug in with simply math functions, like 2+4 or esomethink like that.

Unluky, i tried a copule of this plug in but they don't work with suffusion. I don't know if i make something wrong or not, anyway i was thinking if it's possible to add something like that directly in suffusion :)

Hi Sayontan,

sorry for the delay with i answer to this post, but i was studing for an exam.

THe plug in that i tryed is Math Comment Spam(here the page of the plug-in: http://sw-guide.de/wordpress/plugins/ma ... rotection/ )

I set-up a website where i make my try HERE.

If you try to leave a comment, you see an error message that you don't fill the form...but there is no for to fill!! :(

What do you think about?

Thanks

PS, i upgrade to last version of suffusion on both my webstites, but only on DAGON84 i get this error message on the top of the blog:

Warning: is_dir() [function.is-dir]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(..) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/hosting/d/dagon84/www/:/tmp/:/apache/.eaccelerator/:/apache/.sessions/) in /home/hosting/d/dagon84/www/wp-content/themes/suffusion/widgets/suffusion-subscription.php on line 24

did this happen at every update or only now?
did you move the site to another host? to another directory?
Do you host the sites at different hosts? open_basedir is a restriction which belongs to the PHP-Settings, the server-configuration
so you should contact your hoster's support, it's their job

Only now.

did you move the site to another host? to another directory?

i install wordpress and suffusion on another free host only to make some try, my main site remains http://www.francescoderosa.net/wp

My main problem is the spam...every day i get around 50 commenst of spam, e someone can let fail Akismet.

More, i have to delete by my hands the spam comments, so i was thinking to ad a MATH CAPTCHA plug-in or something like that.

One of my frend suggest me this plug-in, http://disqus.com/ , somone knows if it works with suffusion?

Let me know, so i will try it in the late afternoon.

Bye and tnx for the replies :)

1) If you installed the first time at that free host I would say most of these hosts offer restricted services, and base-dir restrictions are activated for sure because of security reasons
you can find information about that in their documentations

if this happens at the free hoster, I would say do not use it

why you don't install a second WP in a subdirectory of your site, using different table-prefixes there ?
So you will have the same conditions (nearly) for test and active blog

you will never be able to have a free host working the same way your main installations are working

2) concerning comments:
I would not say that plugins don't work with Suffusion. I have NEVER seen a plugin which worked with other themes but explicitely not with Suffusion

Why don't you set some settings for comments? New comments must be activated by the webmaster and will not shine up in your
websites

Use comment-moderation and set the spammers to the blacklist

doing so, you will not need special plugins.

I also do not see that you must delete all commentspams manually. You can delete them at once.
Checkt that one checkbox and take the action "delete"

but this are WP related and not theme related questions ;?)
