Google +1 Integration

Postby robertclarkmtfs » 17 Feb 2012, 11:19

I have everything verified so it shows my pic next to my post on the google search results but when I run the Google Rich Snippets checker (http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ ... .com&view=) it gives me the following error message.

Missing required field “updated”. | Missing required hCard “author”.

I found this page on it http://webstutorial.com/warning-missing ... r/featured

but I don't want to touch anything as I am totally out of my element with programming things. Can someone please confirm if this is a simple fix I can do and exactly what I should be changing?

Thanks

I found the following two pieces of code in a Google Support Forum

For the hCard "author" warning you'll need to tell Google who the author is (using hCard properties like fn) in a vcard: Larry Page

Adding this got rid of the updated error:
January 24, 2011

Can this be added in and would it potentially fix the problem?

Ok, one more help page I found. I tried implementing what it said but it didn't seem to work. Not sure if it's because the fix doesn't work with this theme or because I am doing something wrong.

OMG thank you!!! haha seriously, within minutes of adding my account to Google Plus I lost over 200 page 1 rankings. I don't want to un-link it because I'm scared that it will just take that much longer for things to come back. I am most appreciative! :)

Actually I am not sure if what I added is what you want. I have basically provided support for "authorship" integration. So now if you do a rich snippet validation for my site (http://aquoid.com/news) you will see it identify me as the author, and will potentially show my profile picture with search results.

I'm getting the following Rich Snippets Error: Warning: Missing required field "updated". and I am using the latest version of the theme. Is there a simple fix?

Technically it is a warning, not an error. And note that for the sites that Google uses to demo Rich Snippets, none has the "updated" field.

For what it is worth, there is an embedded element, "updated", and your site behaves just fine even with the warning. My guess is that there is probably a bug on Google's site that reports the field as missing.
