Search / Pagination - Newbie question

Postby Godmcgarvey » 14 Apr 2012, 18:37

I have only recently started using Wordpress having been required to move from Blogware

After trying various themes I settled on Suffusion and am very happy with it except for one niggling problem which I think should be simple but I can't find the answer.

All my posts are associated with one of 7 categories and will have at least one tag also associated

The problem I have is displaying the second page of a category search (or tag)

For example if my blog has 200 posts and it displays 50 per page then I would expect 50 posts shown and links to pages 1 2 3 4 at the bottom and this it does do

The problem is using a more defined search, for example if I have 60 posts under a category "Food" I limit my search to this I get the first 50 posts shown and links to pages 1 2 as expected at the bottom. Now clicking on 2 should get me the last 10 posts for category "Food" but what I instead get is page 2 of all 200 posts and I get links to all four pages again 1 2 3 4

What I obviously want is a way to page through the final posts for that category. Surely it must be possible

Thank you for any help you can offer

If you take a look here, you will see only the posts pertinent to the "Theme Releases" category showing up. So there is probably an issue at your end.

Should a basic install of Wordpress do what I'm asking, if so would a re-install possibly solve it or is that just wishful thinking?

Yes, a basic WP installation with any theme should show this behaviour.
