how to upgrade to latest suffusion

quick question:
I am running 3.5 and I want to upgrade to 4.0.6
In the admin section I didn't see an "upgrade" button and so i tried (which I had done in the past) acting as if I didn't already have suffusion installed and just searched for the theme and clicked the install button, however the installer failed because there was already a theme folder called suffusion...
what am I missing?

Go to Dashboard -> Updates or to Appearance -> Themes. There you will see links for updating the theme. Also you can delete by ftp the Suffusion Folder and reinstall the theme as you already try - anyway the automatic upgrade will delete this folder. Make sure that you don't edited the theme files, your modifications will not be preserved at upgrade - only changes maded by the way of Suffusion Options (including those added at Custom Includes section) and the changes from child theme (if you created one) will be preserved either at manual or automatic upgrade.

well that's the weird thing...
In Dashboard > Updates I see:

You have the latest version of WordPress.

You have the latest version of WordPress. You do not need to update. However, if you want to re-install version 3.3.2, you can do so automatically or download the package and re-install manually:

Download 3.3.2

While your site is being updated, it will be in maintenance mode. As soon as your updates are complete, your site will return to normal.

Plugins

Your plugins are all up to date.

Themes

Your themes are all up to date.

In Appearance > Tehems I see no update/upgrade links...

Hence my confusion

At Suffusion Options, on every page is write with white on black, on the top - left Suffusion X.X.X, where X.X.X is the version - what is there? seems like you already were up to date.

For me it looks like around of September 4, 2011 you allready upgraded from 3.5 (viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6186&p=25561#p25561), and if is about marcurselli.com - your site is at 3.9.2 now.

and right now when I go to Themes it says I have 3.5 installed

Yes, there is 3.5.0. Missing updating notification may be due:
- some security plugins can be settled to hide updating notifications for different levels of users;
- your edits in theme files maybe misplaced something.

Anyway, as I suggested before - go through ftp and make a backup of actual "suffusion" folder, delete it completely and copy a clean one from repository. For sure your theme will be upgraded that way.
