post-upgrade question

Postby marcnyc » 22 Apr 2012, 09:58

I just updated from version 3.5 to 4.0.7 on my site http://www.chaindlk.com (first I updated to 4.0.6 then later in the day 4.0.7 appeared and I upgraded to that).

I have one semi-major issues and two minor ones...

1. on my homepage instead of the contents of the "welcome" page now the 10 most recent posts are showing up even though I have "Hide latest posts" enabled in the Featured Content Section... They never used to show up and I'm not sure why the show up now

Two little things got screwed up after the update and I was wondering how I can fix it...

2. My navigation bar use to be lined up with the white background strip and now it is lower... how can I position the navigation menu bar a bit higher? do I need to do an absolute repositioning of the div container via custom CSS includes or is there an easier more elegant way?

3. The other thing is, my site used to have a fluid layout where the navigation menu would appear on the right of the header logo area when the browser was wider than 1000... this doesn't seem to work as of the update anymore and now the nav bar is always under the logo... it's not a big deal, I am just curious why that's not working anymore even though nothing changed in the suffusion settings and it's still set to fluid etc

thanks

Marc,
I didn't really follow your first question. Can you elaborate on it? Are you seeing extra posts in the featured content? If so, what are the posts?

Add this:
Code: Select all
#header { padding-bottom: 0; }

Actually the current behaviour is correct. There are some CSS tweaks you could use to get back the old look, but the older behaviour is actually buggy.

Hey Sayontan, thanks for the reply.

I'll elaborate:

1. on the first page of www.chaindlk.com I used to see the the following (from top to bottom) in the following order:
- JQuery-powered Magazine fading content preview
- the content of my static page called "welcome"
- Interviews boxes (last 6, two rows) and News (1 row, three categories)
Now in place of the content of the static page I see an old 2010 post (it think it might be the first ever post) and I don't see the content of the static page at all.
In the WP Reading Settings I have:
'Front page displays' set to 'A static page (select below)' and I have 'Welcome' selected under Front page.

2. Thank you, that fixed it!

3. I can live with the current correct behavior, but in this case I just don't understand how the fluid section of Suffusion works... Before it made sense to me... Now I have the same settings but nothing is fluid anymore... Again, I can live with it, no big deal, just curious at this point

Under your featured content settings try enabling duplicate posts to see if your first issue remains or disappears.

YES, THANK YOU, that did fix it!
Could you explain why this would affect that? I don't think I understand what this has to do with duplicate posts!
