Creating a multi column drop down

Postby chadritchie » 20 Apr 2012, 08:00

Is there an option in Suffusion to enable a multi column drop down menu for the nav bar below header?
Maybe something similar to the "Theme Options" button at http://demo.synopsis.sooperthemes.com/

If not, can anyone offer advice how I can achieve this in a Suffusion child theme?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Chad

Yes there is and it is called a Mega Menu. Unfortunately it is one of the features that I haven't needed to use so far in Suffusion so I can't help you further other than to suggest that you do a search on the Forum and Sayontan's blog for details.

The steps to get mega menus working are outlined here: http://aquoid.com/news/2012/02/suffusion-version-4-0-0/

Mega-menus are awesome! However, will they display top-level pages in columns? I only want the drop-down to display top-level pages, maybe child-pages later on. I am using this theme to redesign our county web site and I would like to list all departments into three colums. Right now I keep getting one long column See attachment). I think I am reading the instructions correctly. Thanks so much for your help and this great theme.

Get a widget that does it and include that widfet. That kind of a request is plugin territory.

I did follow the steps to create the mega-menu, but I only want to display a menu of a category that has about forty sub-categories in four columns.

Example: My top-level category is Languages, the sub-categories are Africaans, Aleman, Arabe, Armenio, Bulgaro, Bosnio, Catalan, ...etc. My goal is to put "Languages" as an item in the Navigation Bar Below Header and when mouse-over then displays four (or any number of) columns with the 40+ languages (around 10 in each column).

Is this possible to accomplish only with the mega-menu or do I need some widget? Please enlight.

You will need some means to split the 40 sub-categories into 4 columns in a mega menu. You could create 4 text widgets and manually enter 10 sub-categories in each text widget, otherwise you will need some specific widget that you can configure to show 10 widgets starting from one id and going up to another id.

Ah ok, then may I hope those type of details will be included in future releases?

Thanks Sayontan for your great theme, in a near future I will invite you a coffee. ;)

Details? You mean a widget of that sort? That is probably not going to happen, as it has a distinct plugin flavour.
