Removing "edit" from static page

Removing "edit" from static page

I have created a static first page for my site that contains text. This page does not allow comments. Therefore, I would like to remove the icon and word "edit" that appears in the upper left hand corner of the main page content. Please advise.

The "Edit" link is only shown to you if you are a logged in user, hence it doesn't affect people visiting your site (nobody sees it but you).
