Well, I am in need with another advise from you.
I use a photo album plugin called WP Photo Album Plus, it was the only one that I found which allowed me to view photos inside the main wrapper, so I can have access to the widget area, without closing the photo.
The idea is that this plugin also offers some widgets, one of them is a thunbnail widget. I have more than one category of photos, so I put each of them inside of a widget item. What I am wandering, is if there is a possibility to rearange widgets. when someone clicks on a thumbnail from a category shown in the widget, the photo appears, and I want that category to come first in the widget list.

Sorry no suggestions to resolve your issue.
Have a look at the NextGen Gallery, it is not perfect but is the best gallery software that there seems to be for Wordpress. You can also embed a Coppermine Gallery with a plug-in. Alternatively have a look at Sayontan's Photonic plug-in but you need your photos hosted elsewhere (Flickr, 500PX etc) to use this plug-in.
