Excerpts on magazin template (show, don't show)

Postby ginjoeWP » 19 Feb 2010, 10:21

Hi,

I tried to find similiar posts on this forum, but didn't find any answers to my question:

Setting:
WP 2.9.1
Suffusion 3.3.3
MySQL 5.0 database

I want to remove a post from the magazine template because the party is over. I do not want to delete it, I want it to be still visible in the archive only.

The plug-in "Post Expirator" did not work (btw it only knows deletion or draft).

So I added an additional category "Archive XYZ" (which is not to be shown on the magazine template!) and assigned the post to the new category. But it's still shown on the magazine.

I tried:

turning "show as an excerpt"=off within the post, but after reloading it still shows "on"
i replaced the hook in the checkbox "show as an excerpt on the magazine template". The appropiate customer field disappeared, but the post is still shown as an excerpt.
I miss the loop-function in the magazine-template, or is it located elsewhere?
I had to "activate" any new category in the Suffusion Options to make an excerpt visible, but if the post was once shown on the magazie template in a different category, it still appears. Though now the post belongs to a category "not to be shown on the magazine template". The new permalink is correct, the category aswell.

I'm a bit confused because if I change the name of categories in WP 2.9.1, the hierachily orders of the categories mix up.

What is it? A WP-bug or a Suffusion-bug?

I would be glad if someone could help me to solve this confusing circumstance!

You have provided a lot of information without giving the details required to actually resolve this issue. So let us try this again. Please provide the following:
1. Your URL
2. The title of the post you are trying to not show as an excerpt
3. Other details, like the categories your post belongs to, the categories you have selected for display in the magazine layout etc.
4. All your settings for the magazine page.

The display philosophy of the magazine layout is really simple - it is inclusive, not exclusive. If you have a post that belongs to 5 categories and one of those categories is supposed to be shown on the magazine page, then the post will show there. It doesn't matter that the remaining 4 categories are not selected. This is intended behaviour and I have see no reason to change it.
