Adding link to navigation bar

I want to know if there is any way to add an outside link into the navigation bar without adding a widget on the "Header Widgets". Thanks in advance

Hi,
Yes, you can do this, but you will need some external content. For this you need to be able to set up a page for the external URL and this is something you can achieve by the Redirection plugin - I use this plugin to do the same thing on one of my sites. Do the following:

  • Install the Redirection plugin
  • Follow the instructions here. Assuming that your site is at http://my-site.com and you want to create a page for http://external-site.com, you will do this by defining a page titled "External Page" in your blog, then setting it up to redirect to http://external-site.com
  • Once you have created your redirects, you can edit the page's settings by making it appear through the Navigation Bar setup.

Hope this helps.

Ok, thank you for the answer im gonna try it, and also thanks for this awesome theme.

*Edit*

After installing the redirection plugin and doing the same as the guide, the link in the navigation bar keeps going to the page, not the external link.

Im using WP 2.8.5.

Did you put in the "/" at the end of your source URL?

Yes, the source url is http://mywebpage.com/?page_id=803/ but is the same result. Dont know if i have to change the permalinks or something like that.

Hmm - so since you are not using Permalinks you might want to drop the "/". Let me know if it works, in which case I will correct my article.

Then I am sorry, I don't have an answer.
You could probably look at some other plugin that does redirection, but apart from setting up a redirect I don't know how to solve this - it is way beyond the scope of this theme, so you might want to investigate some other forums that explicitly address such topics.

Thanks anyway for your fast answers, i tried to add the link in the actions.php file, but the link was just plain text without the same format as the others in the nav ( even they are still between the correspondent div tags ).

You would have to actually modify functions.php (not actions.php), where there is code for generating the nav bar. But I would advise against it, since getting those files wrong can wreak havoc on your theme.

I have used Redirection myself. If you look at http://mynethome.net/blog, a lot of the links at the top are Redirections. And this works without modifying a line of PHP.
