Problem with 8211 and 8217 appearing too often!

Ok so i put ' and - alot on my site

first, too many - :
"1 - 300", "200 - 300", "guide 1 - 450" etc
and then too many ' :
"that's it", "it's done", "where's that guy" etc

When I do a keyword density check on my site using http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword-density/ i have
8211 for 15 times and 8217 for 22 times and i'm afraid Google will think my site is about numbers!

i did CTRL + U to check the source and i saw

"Jewelcrafting Guide 1 &#8211; 450</a>"
"Mining Guide &#8211; Master (Outland)"

and

"Herbalism professions it&#8217;s better to put one on Mou"

On other sites when you view the source it's just ' and -, not fancy characters and numbers.

Is this because of the theme or maybe i did something wrong? sorry again to bother with stupid problems like this one but i have nowhere else to go.

It is probably because of your editor. If you are editing posts using the Visual Editor (TinyMCE), it is possible that it converts the text to special characters by itself. I know that Windows LiveWriter does something like this. You can write your posts in the HTML mode of WP's editor - that should be okay.

Hmm, it didn't work!

I also checked another site that has suffusion (from around this forum) and it had the same problem!

I did a test page here that you can investigate if you want. I wrote everything in normal mode.. checked the html (was clean).. but after publishing! bang! numbers again! then i deleted it and wrote everything in html.. i published it.. BANG again!


*edit* I went with a standard wordpress theme.. same problem.. then i went to wordpress.com and made a fresh blog.. same problem. i even tried disabling the visual editor.. same problem. i'm really frustrated right now!

Noooo! I'm not frustrated with suffusion! i'm frustrated with wordpress
it's something about the tinymce editor

for me (even if i exaggerate now) suffusion is like... THE THING! not even experts in html / css can make sites as nice as the oens you can make with the friendly interface of suffusion so no problem there.

I think i'll reinstall wordpress (too bad i don't know how to do that without losing all the settings and such)... but i'll manage.. hopefully.

still, i recommend transforming suffusion into a paid theme...more features... thesis site is like 2.500 alexa, ~25.000 webmasters already bought that theme... * 50$ = 1.250.000$ to date made by those guys... more than enough $ to go around.

and from what i saw, suffusion is like the free thesis!

to decide whether it will a paid or a free theme is up to the master ;=)

to your re-installing wordpress:

if you plan to keep all the settings which you already worked out, do this:

1) make a backup of your WP-data using PHPMyAdmin. You can find out in wp-config.php the prefix of the WP-tables
2) do a backup of your .httaccess and other files, f.e. google-files
3) delete all WP-Files on your server
4) upload the newest WP-version and do an install with ANOTHER TABLE-PREFIX !!! That is absolutely necessary
5) install suffusion theme
6) after the install went ok, test it with temporary data
7) if everything is ok, you can modify your wp-config.php switchin to the "old" wp-table-prefix

I am sure you will get a clean and good WP
