Chronological Ordering of Posts

Hello, my search query turned up 2 dated threads on this subject.

I'm writing a motorcycle blog of my travels and I get numerous requests from family members they would like to read my story from the beginning in chronological order.

Are there any suffusion features that can accomplish this easily? I've tried postmash and custom post order plugins to no avail.

sorry, but what do you mean with chronological order?

ASCendent or DEScendent?

Blogs are done usually the most actual postings on top

if you want it otherwise, you should use a more CMS-like approach

and you could try if you find a plugin for that.

I'm sorry if my query is not clear.

Chronological as in the order the posts were authored, beginning to end, start to finish, ascending if you will.

Like everything in life except blogs.

See this post. Check out the third scenario, where you can pass "&order=ASC" instead of the said parameter. Also see the manual for query_posts.

Thanks for the help. I wouldn't know where to begin to write a script for this function.

I like your theme as it works well with my picture sizes and the look and feel is what I prefer.

It's unfortunate one needs to be a programmer to make a blog do basic functions.

Edit: I just found a post sort plugin that works for me. I'm glad b/c I really like the suffusion theme.

That is not necessarily true (and definitely not true in case of Suffusion - most users will vouch for that).

Every theme provides some functionality, which the theme author feels would sit well in a default setting. If you want to make a theme do something different, there are essentially two ways around it - theme options and plugins. Barring a handful of free themes, very few offer even half-decent customization options. In most cases the options provided help tweak basic things like changing the header image, changing the background image, switching the sidebar from left to right and setting a Favicon. Very few themes go beyond this spectrum and offer you options to set colors. And even fewer themes let you take full control of positioning elements, conditionally hiding things, bundled widgets etc. This is really dependent on how the theme developer wants to provide his theme.

Anything that is not provided with a theme falls in the realm of a plugin. E.g. think of your requirement, where irrespective of which theme you pick you would want the blog to be chronological. So you should really be looking for a plugin, because then you can switch themes and still get the same functionality if you have the plugin. Of course, if a plugin doesn't exist you can either modify your theme or build the plugin yourself.

I have been attempting to ask a question regarding the chronolical listing of my posts for the Suffusion theme, because nothing in the support forums seems to help. I have tried code substitution, Custom Post plugin, etc. I want my entries to be listed with the most recent posts listed at the top, with the oldest at the bottom. When I attempt to change ANYTHING it seems to foul up the whole thing. Sometimes my sidebar even ends up on the bottom. I am not adept at codes. I am fairly new at all of this. I love the theme. I want to keep it. I just need help with this ONE thing. You mentioned that my google analytics code was appearing at the bottom. I know. But as long as the theme was FUNCTIONING I didn't want to mess with anything else.

Dan,
There are a lot of problems with your site as a whole, which is why I first asked you to clean things up. The analytics script showing up on your site might as well be a cause for the sidebar to move positions. Plus you might have a plugin that is messing up the order of posts. But first things first - your site has over 500 validation errors. Clean them up to the extent possible - it will be much easier to debug your problem after that. The errors and the general size of your page makes things extremely slow on your site.

I think too many plugins are slowing your site down and causing issues.

Something is slowing your site down and i suspect its one of your plugins ( if not more ) I suspect too much YouTube stuff on the front page too. 37 scripts and 99 redirections is far too many, that will really slow you down.

Finally, normal wordpress behaviour is to list your most recent posts at the top and older posts at the bottom, is this not happening. ? When i visit your site it looks to be in the correct order, perhaps i am not understanding things correctly, more information please.
