All styling, banner, etc suddenly gone

Post by chipmunk » 04 Aug 2014, 16:59

Went to my Suffusion-based site today, http://www.paperchipmunk.com, and found that my banner graphic no longer exists, my menus are gone, and, in fact, about the only customized thing still there is the background color. Every other display option, style, color, etc seems to have been set back to default. Very distressing! Does this have something to do with some kind of update? What's going on??

I called my hosting company. It doesn't seem that the site was hacked, and they are going to restore it from a backup. But I'm really curious if anyone else has had a problem like this?

There wasn't any update of the theme in a year. Also, customizations are stored in the database, even if you remove the theme from server and reinstall it, usually all changes are preserved. The only way to lose all settings is to press "Delete all theme options" on Save/Reset button on any options screen... In this case the only way to restore all options is from a backup which contain the right version of the site.

Thanks for your response. I certainly did not "delete all theme options." I hadn't even been working on the blog in the last day or so. My hosting company has not been able to restore the backup. They claim the database is in a form that can't be accessed. This has never happened before. All rather disturbing. If it can't be restored, it's going to be hours of work to redo everything. Ugh.
