Suffusion 4.4.9 and WordPress 4.5 Alpha

Hi all, I have been carrying out some test with WordPress 4.5 Alpha and Suffusion 4.4.9. I have found out that the Skinning -> Theme Selection is not saving properly. No matter which Theme Selection I choose only part of the color scheme is applied but the overall color does not save. I am wondering if it is too early to test and troubleshoot this feature or maybe wait until WordPress 4.5 is in beta or RC mode.

I just thought I would share this finding.

Kind regards

Manuel,
I haven't looked at 4.5 Alpha yet. In fact for the past several WP releases I haven't even looked at the Beta or RC!

Specifically what are the issues you are seeing? Are those options newly present in the Customizer? Do you have a link with the issues?

I am certainly seeing some of the same behaviour. For instance I selected the Photonique skin from a light skin and the background stayed white it did not change to Black. I have pm'd you a login to my dev / test site. You can play / change anything you wish there is nothing of any importance on it.

Colin - On the link you provided, there is a custom color set for the background via the customizer. I clicked "Default", and it reset the color to black. Ditto for the Header. Note that according to WordPress.org theme guidelines, if there is a color set via the customizer, that should take precedence over all else (apparently "to ensure uniform user experience across all themes"). That is the way Suffusion's behaviour has been modeled as well.

The rest of the styles on that page seem to be coming from various plugins.

But I selected a dark skin and that overrode the Customiser setting as did the Scribbles skin. You are welcome to disable any plugins.

It doesn't matter - something on the customizer always wins. If you are changing a skin, and you have used the customizer at any point of time, you have to go into the customizer and click the option to reset to the default colour. Basically, to paraphrase the WPTRT's line of reasoning, "Everyone knows what the customizer is, but very few know what your theme does. People are going to go to the customizer and expect to see that color there show up on your website." I believe I had documented the behaviour way back (http://aquoid.com/news/2012/06/wordpres ... suffusion/ - though this talks only about background images, the logic holds for colours as well, and http://aquoid.com/news/2011/09/suffusion-version-3-8-3/).

This behaviour is consistent with what exists on WP 4.4 and older versions as well.

I didn't see anything else that was weird with your site. The table and links displayed on the home page for your site come from the plugin, as I mentioned, so I am not troubleshooting it.

@Sayontan and @Colin after some more testing using WordPress (4.5-alpha-36615) I can confirm that it is working correct now. For some unknown reason which I am not sure if it was my own doing or a plugin or changing themes; under Appearance -> Customize -> Colors there was a custom color set in place. Once I removed that color everything started working correctly. All the other settings in Suffusion theme are set to default Theme Style for testing purposes.

However I will keep testing with the Alpha version. Beta 1 is due to be release today or tomorrow.

Thank you both for adding your comments and further investigating this.

Kind regards
