better 404-page-function

Hi!

Now I come with a feature request ;)

I need a better 404-page with these functionalities:

- search-box integrated
- sitemap integrated
- maybe contact-form integrated

as the 404-option did not accept shortcodes for PHP I had to edit the 404-page-template.
As a first try, I added this after line 48 in the 404.php:

Code: Select all

include("searchform.php");
what do you think about a more comfortable 404-template?

This one is easy to handle - I will look into it.

Sayontan I am struggling with the 404.php page on my blog http://interlopergolf.com/wordpress/

I am trying to customize it using the wordpress editor but:

1. It doesn't take formatting. No matter what I do to the html, it comes up looking weird.

2. The default error message still stays there

If Suffusion can have a template whereby we can drop our own html, that would be the best. Or like a POST with Title and body. Everyone would be able to customize it as he wishes without interfering with the rest of the layouts.

Thank You.

Najee

Najee,
You can specify what you want in the 404 page based on the settings in Suffusion Theme Options -> Templates -> 404 Page. Are you saying this doesn't work?

Sayontan.

Sayontan, the html which you enter there is working, I just checked it
I saved these options (for security reasons) and then I controlled and it was there

I am still missing the search-box, this was what I added in 404.php and of course that was overwritten by the update

I am coming back to the need to include a search form in the 404.template.

I enabled the EXEC PHP - Plugin, so I could enter

Code: Select all

<?php
include("searchform.php");
?>
but an included search form would be nice ;=)
