Disabling or making invisible the borders

Post by tonyyoungblood » 29 Jan 2010, 21:38

Greetings,

Excellent theme! One thing I would very much like to do is make the background and foreground the same color. The problem I'm running into, however, is each section has a border. I would like to disable the borders or make them invisible. Here is an example of what I'm trying to accomplish: http://www.podcampnashville.org/pcn10/ (I know that site was not designed with Wordpress, but you get the idea.)

Another feature I'm looking for is the ability to make the header go all the way across the page (see previous example) while the content is fixed width. I've scoured through the features and haven't been able to find either of these options. Perhaps I am overlooking them.

My site is very much a work in progress. Here's what I have so far: http://www.theatreintangible.com

Thanks for the most customizable theme I have yet to encounter!

Best,
Tony Youngblood

Tony,
Not really sure which aspect of the referenced page you want me to look at (plus your URL is incorrect). See http://www.aquoid.com. Are you looking at something like this? That can be done using a couple of lines in the "Custom Styles" option in Blog Features -> Custom CSS, JavaScript & RSS:

Code: Select all

#wrapper {
        background: transparent;
        border: none;
}
A wide header is not possible.

To the OP, I found this thread helpful in removing my borders (you aren't so much removing them as making them the same color as your background)

http://www.aquoid.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... ders#p3199

I just used the code and replaced the color code with the color I needed.

Thanks, Sayontan

Thanks Sayontan and Molly! Sorry about the incorrect link. It should read http://www.theatreintangible.com

I will try both of your fixes and let you know the results. Thanks!

Thanks Sayontan,

That turned off the border between the background and the body, but there are still borders around the elements. Do you know the code that will turn these off as well? (Example: http://www.theatreintangible.com)

Thanks!
Tony

Getting there. I followed Molly's link, copied the code Sayontan wrote there and put "none;" after every "border:" to get closer to the results I'm looking for. (Example: http://www.theatreintangible.com) The only borders that remain surround the widgets on the right side of the page. I'll keep looking for the css to remove them, but if you happen to know it, I would be much obliged. Also, I'm sure the code below could be much cleaner and contains unnecessary coding.

Thanks again!

Code: Select all

#wrapper {
        background: transparent;
        border: none;
}
blockquote{
   border: none;
}

div.dbx-box {
   border: none;
}

.dbx-handle {
   border-bottom: none;
}

#nav {
   border-bottom: none;
}

#nav ul li{
   border: none;
}

#nav ul ul li {

}

#l3nav, #l4nav, #l5nav, #l6nav, #l7nav, #l8nav {

No luck thus far. Sayontan, do you happen to know the "none" code to disable the borders around the widgets? (See previous post)

Put in:

Code: Select all

#sidebar div.dbx-box, #sidebar-2 div.dbx-box {
        border: none;
}

How do you remove the borders to the comment area, as they didn't become invisible when I used the code above, I have borders showing up around name, email, url and your comment, Ideally i wouldn't mind the borders if it also bordered the text input box which it isnt, i also get an ugly border around the subscribe to comments option underneath submit. any help?
