Trying to put fixed content above blog

Post by JesperWe » 29 May 2012, 14:51

Hi all! Suffusion is such a terribly powerful theme these days that there are several ways of accomplishing things...Maybe you can help me figure this one:

I use a standard 1 left 1 right layout for my front page, with the blog in the middle and various widgets around it.

What I'd like to do is put some fixed content in the top of the middle column, above the blog. This content should have its own outline box, but the same visual design as a blog entry, except it should NOT have the date icon and preferably no comment stuff. (Was it not for that last bit I could use a sticky post of course)

If I put content into a widget in the "Widget Area below Header" it spans all three columns, which is not what I want.

I tried making the front page a "Page of Posts" and write the fixed stuff into the page, but that is not shown at all in this template.

I also tried the Custom Layout, putting the fixed content in the first widget area and then the blog in the second. But using the Query Posts widget I can't get the blog entries to come out properly formatted with date icons and all that.

Any other ideas?

Use a sticky post, then control the elements you want to hide via CSS.
