Cant´t get translation to work // solved

Post by Zaphodbeeblerock » 05 Jan 2013, 19:44

Hello

I know this question was postet often times, but all the answers and tutorials didn´t help.
I really tried my best but could not find the solution.

I would like to have my frontend in german language.

I put the de_De.po and de_De.mo in the translation folder of Suffusion.

In wp-config.php "define('WPLANG', 'de_DE');" exists

You have options for making your own labels for comment form at Suffusion Options -> Backend -> Comment Settings.

Hello Drake

Thank you for answering.

Ok, I can change the comment labels, but that is not translating the rest of my frontend. When I watch the .po .mo files in Editor I see that theoretically everything can be translated, but it is not working for me ...

Kind regards

I don't know what happen - I see un-translated only "Leave a reply", "Posted by" and "Add Comments", but the files from pool seems to be 100% translated.
Besides of declaring de_DE language in wp-config, you have copied the translation files for WORDPRESS for finalizing localization? See: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language. Try to reinstall wordpress localized for Deutschland: http://de.wordpress.org/.

@Drake,

I installed WP 3.5 german version some times and these texts "Leave a reply.." etc. are still shown
I set the correct setting in wp-config.php and I use a complete translation file version 3.9.6 (it's impossible for me to update the 4.4.4-fles as poedit always delivers an error)

but these textstrings are translated in both language files, wordpress-language file and suffusion-language file and still the error occurs, at some of my installations

Hi Connie, glad to see you :)

Yes, as far as I know, for older versions of suffusion.pot files was problems with translation of some fields (including those you mention). But now those problems was solved by moving translations to glotpress: http://pool.aquoid.com/

Can you try to test to download the translation from there?

So, I found the solution :D

I just had to change de_De.mo into de_DE.mo, and things work fine now.

I found this solution because I kind of gave up and installed codestyling localization and then looked into the .mo file that was written by the plugin. And there it was de_DE.mo ....

So thanks for helping me

Best regards

Alexander

Yes, an elegant solution - I often use Codestyling Localization for plugins, but translation of theme always works in my installations for Romanian or Dutch sites so I just forgot about Heiko's plugin in this case...

Sorry that I oversaw the wrong capitalisation of the language files... of course it must be de_DE ;=)

cheers, Connie
