Change color for footer only

Post by Radu » 05 Aug 2010, 16:39

I did a color change on the main wrapper of my site – http://www.racinginfocus.com – and the footer text can not be visible.
I’m looking to control the font color of the footer only, actually to display the credits and footer customization text.
I did a check with the IE developer tools and noticed that the color is controlled in css by the BODY – Is there any way to overwrite the style only for this text?

Regards,

Radu

Hey i can help you with this...
There are a couple things that you need to do

FIRST Lets do the easy part
go to suffusion settings ~~~~~> then blog features ~~~~~~~> then footer customization
then you will see the two boxes for the left footer and center footer
in these boxes you probably have stuff in there that looks like

Code: Select all

<a href='http://www.ecigsavings.com/privacy-policy/'>Privacy Policy</a> | <a href='http://www.ecigsavings.com/terms-of-service/'>Terms Of Service</a> | <a href='http://www.ecigsavings.com/disclaimer/'>Disclaimer</a>
these boxes allow for regular html code so you can change it like this....

Code: Select all

<a href='http://www.ecigsavings.com/privacy-policy/'><font color="#009900">Privacy Policy</font></a> | <a href='http://www.ecigsavings.com/terms-of-service/'><font color="#009900">Terms Of Service</font></a> | <a href='http://www.ecigsavings.com/disclaimer/'><font color="#009900">Disclaimer</font></a>
this will change all the links to green (you can find whatever color you want and just replace the #009900 with the appropriate color number. make sure that you put the font tags INSIDE the <a href= ""></a> tags as if you dont it could effect the colors output you get. These setting will remain in suffusion even during updates.

SECOND on to the footer tags for the right side of footer...

This code can be edited on the actual actions.php file found in the folder path /themes/suffusion/functions/actions.php
open the actions.php and look for this code

Code: Select all

		<table>
			<tr>
				<td class="cred-left"><?php $strip = stripslashes($suf_footer_left); echo do_shortcode($strip); ?></td>
				<td class="cred-center"><?php $strip = stripslashes($suf_footer_center); echo do_shortcode($strip); ?></td>
				<td class="cred-right"><a href="http://www.ecigsavings.com/contact-us/">Contact Us</a> </td>
			</tr>
		</table>
youll notice the <td class="cred-right"> do the same thing as above

Code: Select all

		<table>
			<tr>
				<td class="cred-left"><?php $strip = stripslashes($suf_footer_left); echo do_shortcode($strip); ?></td>
				<td class="cred-center"><?php $strip = stripslashes($suf_footer_center); echo do_shortcode($strip); ?></td>
				<td class="cred-right"><a href="http://www.ecigsavings.com/contact-us/"><font color="#009900">Contact Us</font></a> </td>
			</tr>
		</table>

NOTE: When you update you theme files this code will go back to its default settings and will need to be updated again so dont forget that

All your links should now be whatever color you want them to be. If you have any cache plugins be sure to clear your cache to see the updated links.

Any questions let me know

You don't need to do much. Go to Blog Features -> Custom Includes -> Custom Styles and put in:

Code: Select all

#cred a {
    color: #ababab;
}
Use any color that you want.

If you are using Suffusion 3.7.8 it is in Suffusion > Back End Settings > Custom Includes > Custom Styles

Pretty easy to find if you check out all the options in Suffusion ;)

thanks Colin!

But now I read
what you define here will pretty much override everything else
and
These styles will override all other styles that you have defined / set.
and
If you have any text here, it will be included in the header of your pages
so I'm a bit anxious to destroy my whole site...are you sure that I really just can add this line and nothing else will happen than the changing of the footer-color?

My "Custom Styles" -box is still entirely empty, by the way.

thanks again...
