It is with great sadness that I read: http://aquoid.com/news/2016/06/suffusio ... -any-more/

I do understand Sayontan's decision. Yet, I do hope the situation can and will be fixed. Is there anything we users can do? Like signing a petition or something that will be presented to the decision makers of WordPress?

I like your idea BUT unfortunately the WPTRT are a law unto themeselves. They write the rules and they enforce them.

I think we just have to accept that Suffusion may eventually not work with the Wordpress version at that time. I suspect (hope) that it is likely to be a very significant change to Wordpress that would cause this. We will just have to keep our fingers crossed.

Usually current changes in WordPress (like upgrading to a new jQuery version, small changes in php or so) are easy to manage and we can manage them even here, on forum (or on my site if Sayontan decide to shut-down the forum). But is hard to change completely the whole backend of the theme, like for changing the backend menus for Customizer. Not because of coding, but is very hard to rethink and remake everything to fit in that space...

It is truly sad ...

I guess it is safer now to use whatever theme Wordpress has. Any recommendations with the least work in transitioning to a new theme from Suffusion ?

Thanks

No other theme will be an easy transition from Suffusion as there is nothing like it that I have found. I am sticking with Suffusion and will check compatibility on a test site before updating future versions of Wordpress exactly as I do now and only upgrading when I am sure that there are no issues.

Watch this space as there may be some news over the coming weeks.

Ok, will watch this space. Hope someone can maintain it, it's still a great theme.

But maybe transfer to a new forum, in case Sayontan closes this ?

Any real chance of Suffusion becoming a premium theme to return to WP fold? I too would pay per website.

Same here. I would gladly pay to use Suffusion and have it kept up-to-date.
