Suffusion 3.9.6 and NGG 1.9.2

Post by Connie » 27 Jan 2012, 07:45

Hello after some time!

I have a problem with the NGG galleries: at my side the galleries work ok
at a friends page, it's the same combination, Suffusion 3.9-6 and NGG 1.9.2, but the galleries do not work

I really try to find out what is the reason and where to define that. but I cannot find the solution.
When we switch to another theme, TwentyTen for example, the gallery works, when we switch to Suffusion, the gallerie does not work

correct at my site: http://www.gribowski.de/2012/01/bildergalerie-test/
wrong at my friends' site: http://die-fotogräfin.de/2010/05/portrait/ <= the URL-tags don't work here, maybe because of the umlaut?

where is the hook? Any help is really appreciated ;=)

Connie

Welcome back.

I have just viewed your friends site with Firefox v9.0.1 and the gallery shows fine on the link that you gave. It is also fine in Safari but IE and Chrome throw a couple of problems including a re-direct to http://xn--die-fotogrfin-kfb.de/2010/05/portrait/ rather than the url you gave.

Try clearing your browser cache?

Colin,

it is not my browser-cache, I think and I am sure.
I cleared my cache many times
but I can click on that image top left for example, http://die-fotogräfin.de/wp-content/gallery/portrait/portrait-11.jpg, it is loaded as normal image, not as lightbox image

the problem is that this domain has "ä" in the URL and unfortunately this is managed by redirecting to that URL: http://xn--die-fotogrfin-kfb.de/2010/05/portrait/

I learned that this is the "original URL"... well, ok, it seems to be a problem with that URl, but:

before the Suffusion update there was no problem, the gallery worked, we could click on the image and it was loaded in a lightbox
when we switch to other theme, as I told, the gallery works well as well, which shows me that there must be a problem with Suffusion

so I am helpless (with clean cache ;)=)

Connie,
Long time!
I believe you are referring to the lightbox functionality on your friend's site. If so, it might simply be a case of that specific Lightbox not working (Shutter Reloaded?). Try using a different lightbox script that comes with NGG. Also I recall helping someone with this about 2 years back - there is probably a setting somewhere in NGG that you have to change.

Hallo Sayontan,

yes, I have been away for some time, I am working at GetSimple CMS mostly, that's why...

thanks, we will check your suggestion. But the question still is: what happened that after the Suffusion update the gallery is not working anymore, because it worked before?
and why does it work with TwentyTen theme and not with Suffusion?

That is my problem ;=)

Cheers, Connie

Connie,

I honestly have no idea. And since there are other alternatives that work just as well, I haven't given this much thought. Also note that NGG too received an update recently - for all you know it is the combination of the two updates that is causing an issue and it is not something on Suffusion alone.

In the past if I have figured something out regarding NGG I have included a way to get around it in Suffusion, because I have come to expect nothing from their support.

I tried a little test on my local installation with the Shutter effect of NGG and I could get the gallery running fine, so I doubt that something is wrong in Suffusion.

I know that there can be situations like this one
I have to accept it (and to convince the friend to try other gallery script)

have a good night,

Connie
