Suffusion Version 3.4.8

I had submitted version 3.4.8 of Suffusion to WordPress on 29th April, but it took a while to get approved because one of the main persons who does the approvals was traveling. Anyway, this version was approved last night. This has the following updates:

  1. A fix for the bug that displayed HTML characters. If you still see special characters displayed in your footer, go to Suffusion Theme Options Visual Effects Footer Customization and Save the settings there.
  2. Updated Swedish and Russian translations.

The next version will have some pretty useful fixes and features, like the fix for the CDN JQuery script, and some options to tweak the appearance of the date icon.

  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! This fixed that pesky little problem with the footer I’ve been dealing with for a few days now. You’re the best!!

  2. Thanks you, Sayontan!! I really love this theme !!

  3. Thank you! I do have a question…when I select “upgrade automatically” I get a message that indicates any customization will be lost. Does this mean that all the colors, plug-in etc will be gone?
    Thanks again!

  4. Hey Greg,
I asked this question on the forums a while ago. Here is Sayontan’s answer:

That message is WP’s way of warning you.

Your question is pretty common and addressing it was one of the cornerstones of Suffusion. I am a consultant by profession and one of the primary traits of my job is to tell my clients not to modify core code of an application. As the motto of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry goes, “Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus”, or “Never Tickle a Sleeping Dragon”. Once you start modifying core code for customization, you are on your own. To that extent I have provided options in Suffusion that take the pain out of most customizations. As long as your changes to the theme stay within the purview of the screens of “Suffusion Theme Options”, you are covered – you should have no impact whatsoever if you try to upgrade. Here are things that you can lose out in an upgrade:

    1. Changes to the CSS files
    2. Changes to the PHP files
    3. Replacement of images within the theme with your own
    4. Any new images you might have added to the theme folders

  5. Thanks Buck! I appreciate you letting me know 🙂

  6. I have ever been change a little bit of the script, that doesn’t mean I can’t upgrade the theme,do I? Because now I have a problem, I can’t access “Suffusion Theme Options” after I upgrade to 3.4.8. It show me blank white screen. Why?

    • Not sure what you are asking. A white screen is indicative of a syntax error. If you have changed file then you might have induced an error. Your best option is to replace all files of the theme using FTP.
