Suffusion Version 4.0.0 – Beta Release 2

Apologies for the delay in getting this beta out. There are two main reasons for the delay: I was extremely busy with a lot of work at my day job, and secondly, I wasn’t able to wrap my head around one particular bug. Eventually I managed to overcome the challenges, so I present to you Beta Release 2 of Suffusion 4.0.0. This version should be as good as a release candidate.

Please note the following:

  1. I had mentioned of a change in a prior post about killing an option on the Magazine template. I had forgotten to include it in the previous beta. This one removes the option.
  2. Following a rather interesting and misguided rant on the WP forums, I decided to get rid of the “Custom Types” functionality from the theme. But before you hit the panic button, note that any post types you have defined through this interface will continue to work – you just won’t see the options to add new custom types. I have already applied for space for a plugin where I will be releasing this separated feature as a plugin.
  3. I have, hopefully fixed the issues reported with the first beta. This includes some problems with the Mega Menus and some others with the translations.

Let me know how this goes.

  1. Is it supposed to be shown in the WP update panel? I don’t see it. Whatever, when I get home, if I still don’t see it I will manually update it.

    • No, you will not be able to install it through the update panel. This is on a beta channel and is not hosted on WP’s repository.

  2. Sayontan,

I “may” have a problem with the new layouts for the magazine template,…
when using the 2 right sidebar or 2 left side bar layout and a default page wide of 1000 (theme default), there appears to be a mis-allignment in the “other stories” section,…. every 3rd block is aligned incorrectly,…
    2 Left Side Bars
When the page width is change to 1200 the display is correct,….
all my live sites use a width of 1200 or more so would not be a problem.

  3. one more funny,…
trying to upload body background image,…. upload seem to work but does not,….
leave “0” in url field,…. when I supply the url of the background image, it pick it up and displays the correct image,…
don’t know if this relates to the release or is something environmental,…
tried the same thing on a fresh install of WP & Theme, and still experiencing upload problem,…

    • I couldn’t understand this. Can you provide me with some screenshots?

      • Screen shots in attached post.

        • I am not sure that I understand the issue correctly. As far as I can see, your image got uploaded. Note that you might have to click on the “Upload Image” button twice – for some reason that I haven’t investigated, it doesn’t respond if you click once.

  4. Sayontan, not sure if the got the direct-message,..

I have been aware of the “click twice” for a while,…. that’s why I was not sure if this is a bug, or if I am going off script,…
I had to upload the image via FTP,…. the upload file dialogue does not seem to engage,…

Done some more testing,… got the upload dialogue to “upload”,…

    here is the result,….

  5. Hello!
I use for some time your theme with success.
With the new update, I ran into a problem but that Ican not escape. I started receiving messages like trackback, which are actually SPAM. I bother including these messages appear trackback to my widget “recent coments”
What should I do to not receive from now the trackback message, that actually are SPAM messages?.
I mention that I made the necessary settings in Settings Back-end/Comment Settings.
    Best regards,

    • This really has nothing to do with the theme. You need a good anti-spam plugin to block such messages. Settings under Back-end → Comment Settings are only meant for display: they don’t control who can or cannot post comments.

  6. Creating posts/pages, SEO>Meta Description width overflow text on the second column…
I am using Chrome at 1280×1024 video resolution…
I will send to you a screenshot if you want.

    Best Regards,

    Miguel Koscianski Vidal

  7. Testing Beta 2, the post-new.php java problem is fixed, as you confirmed.
Even though I was the only one who was seeing it, so far (in few attempts only) I am not seeing the preview ‘page not found’ issue either.
